When we hear about Cialis most of the time we understand that there's finally a real competitor to Viagra on the erectile dysfunction treatment market. Both Viagra and Cialis have the same essential mechanism of action that makes them so effective in treating erectile dysfunction and improving lives of men all over the globe. And this mechanism looks pretty simple; both Cialis and Viagra (as well as Levitra) block an enzyme called phosphodiesterase, which restricts the penile muscles from relaxing and blocking the blood circulation in the penis (and thus giving us problems with erection).

However, when comparing the effectiveness of Cialis and Viagra, many users state that Cialis is far more superior to Viagra in what concerns how fast does it take to feel the effects and for how long these last. Cialis takes about 15 minutes to take effect and it usually last up to 20 hours and more. In contrast, Viagra takes about 30 minutes to take effect and its benefits last for about 5 hours.

Both drugs were effective in over 80 percent of the patients with some not having an erection for several years before taking an ED medication. However in some cases Cialis has provided positive effects for a period up to 36 hours, with the patients having no trouble in getting an erection during this period. This is due to a longer half-life of Cialis compared to Viagra, i.e. Cialis stays for a longer period of time in the human body with the same dosage.

As a conclusion, we can clearly see that Cialis is superior to Viagra and represents its logical improvement in what concerns effectiveness. And this is also reflected in terms of sales. However, there's always room for perfection and many men expect that Cialis, being a very effective drug already, will improve and get even more effective for treating erectile dysfunction.
